Astragalus is a restorative herb that strengthens the immune system by enhancing the production of interferon. In addition to this response to infection, there is an increase in endurance & stamina. Tissue regeneration is promoted, facilitating healing of lesions that have been resistant to treatment. Astragalus increases the vitality of the immune system by increasing the body’s production of immune effector cells that protect from pathogens. Taken as a preventative or restorative tonic, it is well known to re-build depleted energy reserves. Astragalus can be used as an adjunctive treatment in cancer, lessening the detrimental effects of chemotherapy, and helping to build blood by nourishing the spleen and protecting the liver.
